Southland Holdings contacted CPE in dire need of help with their 6048BDF. The unit had suffered severe damage on a previous project and was in near disrepair. CPE traveled out to assess the situation and provided a free consultation and repair estimate. A complete refurbish was in order, so CPE scheduled the repair in-between pours to eliminate any unnecessary down time. This included the carriage shifting mechanism, which is the heart of the bridge deck paver. The repairs and updates were completed ahead of schedule, the test and tune were performed on the deck, and the machine was staged for the upcoming deck installation. A few days later concrete arrived, and the unit performed flawlessly making quick work of the 330 yds of concrete on this technical span of bridge. There are 9 more bridges on the I-30 project before the unit moves on, and the customer has restored confidence that their Allen 6048BDF is up for the task.
